Dismaland

From 21st August to 27th September 2015 Banksy's short lived but brilliant exhibition 'Dismaland' was on in Weston-Super-Mare in Somerset. This was Banksy's anarchic take on a Disney type theme park, but more dismal! Access was very limited and tickets difficult to get.

Dismaland was entirely a Banksy Installation. He conceived and designed it. He sourced the materials and created it, including the fixtures and fittings. Therefore, apart from the exhibits of the other invited artists, everything in Dismaland was a 'Banksy' this is accepted & beyond doubt.

On 22nd August 2015 Banksy gave an emailed interview to the Guardian newspaper to publicise Dismaland. This was in their 'Guide' magazine that weekend.

The front cover was illustrated with a new image Banksy had created 'Rat Babe'. This image was also used on the front cover of Juxtapose magazine in October 2015 (see images 9 & 10 above). This same image was used for the screenprint offered here.
